Project Learning Tree transition to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. is going smoothly. The National PLT staff have moved into lovely new offices on a floor directly below SFI’s existing office space and they are integrating well with the SFI team. They have been thoroughly welcomed and onboarded by SFI staff and together they’re making great strides to incorporate the PLT program into SFI and identify some new exciting opportunities for collaboration. There are still a few things to sort out, systems to transfer, new contracts to establish, boxes to unpack, but we are settling in well into a supportive and energizing environment.
PLT joined SFI’s staff retreat in West Virginia, July 31-Aug 3 at the site of the recent Boy Scouts Jamboree. The retreat gave all staff an opportunity to get to know each other, both personally and professionally. PLT staff led some PLT activities and an exercise from their School Site investigation to give the SFI team a flavor of PLT’s hands-on approach to highlight what PLT does and what it means. In turn, SFI staff gave PLT presentations about their work and the SFI program’s three pillars: Conservation Impact, Education and Community Engagement, and Supply Chain Assurances. A great introduction in a great location!
