Teaching with i-Tree

Produced in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service, PLT’s new Teaching with i-Tree unit contains three hands-on activities designed to help middle and high school students discover and analyze the many ecosystem services that trees provide. The lessons accompany i-Tree Design – a suite of free online tools developed by USFS and its partners – that allows students to calculate the dollar value of the benefits provided by a tree or a set of trees. Teaching with i-Tree will be released this month and can be downloaded for free from PLT.org. The activities can be used in formal classroom settings or with informal groups, such as scouts and students enrolled in after-school programs.
