WV House Speaker Vacancy

In a letter released Wednesday afternoon, Delegate John Overington, R-Berkeley, serving as House speaker pro tem, announced that he will call the House of Delegates back into session next Wednesday to elect an interim speaker to fill the vacancy created when Speaker Tim Armstead, R-Kanawha, resigned Tuesday to run for the West Virginia Supreme Court.

In the letter, Overington said he will reconvene the House, which was called into special session June 26 regarding impeachment of Supreme Court justices, at 9 a.m. The House recessed Aug. 14 after authorizing articles of impeachment against four justices.
