STRIVE WV: First Step Heavy Equipment

We have exciting news from STRIVE WV, the workforce development department of the Randolph County Housing Authority!

Recently, we have rolled out our First Step Heavy Equipment Training (FSHET) Program to offer Heavy Equipment Operation training in Construction and Forestry to individuals in West Virginia. We utilize CAT Hardware Simulators equipped with Simformation Technology to bring the look, sound, and feel of physically operating heavy equipment safely into our classroom! The digital training covers everyday scenarios and tasks you would see in the Heavy Equipment Operation Industry, ensuring FSHET participants benefit from hands-on experience. These simulators allow FSHET students to gain equipment familiarization, job site safety, and gain field experience. Students also undergo digital assessments and receive progress reports. Specifically, for the Forestry training track, FSHET students complete the program proficient in operating feller bunchers and log loaders. We are currently located in Randolph County. However, this program is mobile which means we are able to offer it statewide and will be bringing this program to southern West Virginia in fall of 2023.
