In an item from the Forest Resources Association: “The House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on “How Tax Reform Will Help America’s Small Businesses Grow and Create New Jobs”. As the talk on tax reform heats up on the hill we saw some positives come out of this hearing. While both sides seem to differ on the exact remedy, there appears to be a consensus that something needs to be done to fix the tax code. In a big step forward the hearing opened with statements related to the elimination of the Alternative Minimum Tax as well as the Estate Tax. When both the Administration and those leading the charge in Congress are on the same page in regards to eliminating these punitive taxes on small business we have room for optimism.
